Literature Notes

Literatude notes는 보관소이자 reference 시스템에 연결되는 소스.
•
LN은 슬립박스에 속하지 않으며!! 소스 밖의 아이디어와 연결되지 않는다!!
•
LN은 각자의 영역내에 아이디어의 집합을 가지고 있다.
•
레고에 비유한다면 소방차 조립 세트 같은 것이 되겠지. 하나의 완성품이다. 여러 모듈(아이디어)가 모인.
Permanent Notes

PN은 slip-box에 넣기 위해 만드는 것으로 나의 관심사의 영역에 속하는 아이디어, 연결, 열린 질문 등이 되겠다.

Atomic하게 만든다는 것은 소스를 요약하거나 책의 중심 아이디어들을 정리할 수 없다는 것은 아니다. 즉 단순한 아이디어 1개가 아닌 특정한 목적의 아이디어의 집합이 되어도 된다는 것이다. 이 집합이 다른 아이디어들과의 연결성이 확보될때 Atomic하다고 할 수 있다.

레고에 비유한다면 운전석 만들기 정도가 되겠다. 운전석 만들기는 운전석이 많이 필요한 선박 만들기 아이디어와 연결될 수 있다. 연결성을 확보하였기 때문에 Atomic하다고 할 수 있다.
Conclusion

LN에 포함된 원본 소스의 아이디어를 내 생각과 관심의 맥락인 PN으로 이동시키는 것이다.

A key learning/growth area for me with smart notes/zettelkasten is the difference between literature/source notes and permanent/slip-box notes. LNs are archived and connected to the reference system. They’re not in the slip-box, and aren’t connected to other ideas outside the source. LNs have their domain of ideas as the source itself. In the Lego metaphor, they would be your version of the instructions for building the particular set in a box. Permanent notes are written for the slip-box, so their domain is your interests and the ideas/connections/open questions in the slip-box.
Making these “atomic” doesn’t mean you can’t write a note summarizing a source or naming the key ideas of a book. It just means that the ideas are written in a way that they can be and are connected to other ideas and connectable to future ideas as well.
For Legos, you might make a PN on how to build a cockpit, which could get connected to another note on building a seat, or it could connect to how to build a ship with multiple cockpits. So you’re taking the ideas from the context of the original source in the LNs and moving them to the context of your own interests and ideas in the slip-box.
