How to learn from your notes [Lesson 7/7]

Would you like to know how to learn effectively from your notes?

Well, this is a question that I hear all the time.

Before diving deeper into it, let me quickly summarize everything we've seen so far.

First, we saw that the purpose of taking notes is to be more creative.

Second, we saw that taking notes is just the beginning of the real work: start using them as a prolific input to create something new.

Third, we saw that classifying your notes the conventional way doesn't work.

Fourth, we saw that a good note-maker has a process and standardizes the way he takes notes.

Fifth, we saw that using multiple apps to take notes is the best way to finish up exhausted and waste precious mental energy.

And finally, yesterday, we saw that we have to be more selective about the content we consume.

Whoah – That's a lot.

But I hope it provided you with some a-ha! Moments.

So now comes the question:

How to learn from our notes and start crafting something out of them.

(Remember, lesson 2?)

I've recently had a prospect on the phone who tried to figure out the best way for him to learn out of his notes.

And I helped him overcome this hurdle with a simple principle.

(I like simplicity a lot – I'm a repented overthinker!)

This principle is as follows:

If you want to learn, start to share it with others.

Sharing ideas you came across with others is by far the BEST way to learn.

There is a concept that I've borrowed from old monotheist scholars that say the following:

Money decreases when you give it away – but knowledge increases when you give it away.

There are plenty of studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of learning by teaching.

How interesting is that?

Depending on your current goals, you may or may not be a teacher, content creator, or something alike.

But you can share what you've learned with others.

It could be on- or offline.

I know this is work.

But what do you think is better:
